Project Title: Greener AgRo-fooD logistics in the mEditerraneaN (GARDEN)

Description of the project in one sentence: The GARDEN project promotes sustainable agricultural and food logistics and waste management in Mediterranean cities to mitigate environmental impacts and support the ecological transition.

Description of the project in one paragraph: The GARDEN project aims to develop ecological logistics for food supply and the management of bio-waste, packaging, and used containers in Mediterranean cities to reduce their impact on citizens and the global climate system. The project will set up six pilot demonstrators in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria to support experiments for ecological transition. The modeling and sizing of suitable infrastructures, based on renewable energy and bio-fuels, will showcase the feasibility of carbon-free alternative solutions. The consortium will address economic, organizational, and technological issues to make the transition sustainable in the long term. Through a multi-actor consultation in a living lab approach, the consortium will identify viable and secure supply chain solutions from producer to consumer, providing recommendations for urban development and infrastructure to meet future challenges.
