GARDEN Thematic Event on the Decarbonisation of Agri-Food Logistics

06/07/2026

A thematic event dedicated to the decarbonisation of agri-food logistics was held at Campus Provence Verte, bringing together GARDEN project partners, institutional representatives, innovation actors and stakeholders from the agri-food and logistics sectors.

The event focused on the challenges, opportunities and practical solutions linked to reducing the carbon footprint of agri-food logistics. After the welcome session, the programme opened with presentations by Campus Provence Verte, Capenergies and Innov’Alliance, followed by an introductory perspective on the main issues related to the transition towards greener logistics.

Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about regional actions and funding mechanisms supporting decarbonisation. A round table discussion explored the gap between ambitions and realities on the ground, addressing operational constraints, barriers to implementation and feedback from actors directly involved in agri-food logistics.

A key moment of the event was the inauguration of the GARDEN Interreg Euro-MED pilot. The pilot was presented together with several concrete solutions, including retrofitting of utility vehicles, smart charging infrastructure and retrofitting of agricultural machinery. Participants were also able to see the retrofitted vehicle and charging station during an outdoor presentation.

The programme concluded with a networking buffet and a visit to the agricultural site at Campus Provence Verte, linking the discussions to practical examples and local implementation.

This event highlighted GARDEN’s contribution to the green transition by connecting innovation, cooperation and real-life solutions for more sustainable agri-food supply chains in the Mediterranean region.
